A tutor that has an introduction video in their profile is twice as likely to get a booking so we require all new tutors to have introduction videos in their application.
Please read the below requirements and instructions carefully. If you have an amazing video your application may be automatically approved without an interview.
How to add an introduction video to your profile/application
Create your video using a recording device. Most modern smartphones will do fine or a laptop with a webcam also works.
Upload the video to Youtube. Do not mark your video as “Private" or it will not work. You must mark it as “Unlisted” to work. For instruction of how to upload a video to youtube click here.
Copy the share video link from Youtube. The link should look something like this: https://youtu.be/YhOx48pB_0k
Paste the video link into your Kalvie account either in your application form, if you are just applying to Kalvie, or in the Manage Profile page if you are an existing tutor and want to change your video.
Creating a great introduction video
What is required in the video
Introduction (15-30 sec). Greet the students with a big smile and briefly introduce yourself by mentioning your name, qualifications, subjects and curriculums you teach, and languages you speak.
Teach a topic (40-90 sec). Choose a topic and give a lesson as if you were speaking to a student. If you will teach languages, go ahead and speak in those languages to show off your skills!
Additional information. Briefly share experiences and knowledge that are relevant and not included in your profile.
Ending. End the video by saying “Thank you for watching and I invite you to book a session with me on Kalvie.com” with a big smile.
Presentation
Smiling is very important! Students want friendly tutors.
Keep it short, the best videos are between 60 to 90sec long.
Be welcoming, clear, and concise. This is your chance to show how well you communicate.
Speak loudly and even. It doesn’t matter what you say if the viewer can’t hear you.
Be yourself, you’ve already made it this far so you are doing something right!
Video Quality
Make sure your video is recorded using a high quality video and audio. Most modern smart phones will do fine.
If recording from a smart phone, make sure to hold it horizontally. Keep your recording device on a stand or table. Don’t hold it by hand or the video will shake and look unprofessional.
